Using ultrafast laser spectroscopy, we investigate the coupled electronic and nuclear motions that govern excited-state processes such as charge transfer, symmetry breaking, singlet fission, and energy conversion. Our goal is to uncover the molecular-level principles that control photochemical function and ultimately learn how to manipulate these processes using
